Had the day off today, so wanted to test my new Chrono. Weathers a bit (swear word), cold and looked like rain, although it has held off for most of the day, so I decided to test the chrono indoors. So I needed an "indoor" pellet trap. Went thru my shed and found a few bits, (see photos).
Materials:
Got an old plastic box, previously held bird feed, seeds, etc.
Got an old roll of roofing lead.
Got an old bag of sand.
Cut up an old t shirt.
Method:
Measured and cut lead to fit plastic box, x 2 strips.
Carefully lined plastic box with lead strips.
Filled base of box with old cut up t shirt. (about 2 inches deep)
Completed filling the box with old sand. (about another 2 inches deep, so the box is now half full)
Box completed.

So this box is (outer) plastic with a double layer of lead on the botton and a single layer of lead to the sides, then has a layer of cloth (t shirt) and a layer of sand.

Took it into the kitchen, set up the new chrono and started testing, 1st shot, bloody sand went everywhere! So, plan B.....

Took out the sand, then took out the t shirt (and shook off the sand).
Swapped the fillers around, put the sand in first, (about two inches) and then put the cut up t shirt back in, so that is now on top.

Went back into the kitchen and started again, now no sand! Probably put about 200 pellets into it today and not one "rick o'sheyed" or rebounded and not one made it thru the t shirt to the sand. To be honest it proably does not need the sand, as even if it gets thru the cloth there is a double lead layer underneath. But I'm pleases with it, its small and portable, not heavy, probably weighs couple of pound? and works like a treat and is very quiet. Best of all it took about 10 minutes to make and it cost me nothing as I had all the materials lying around.
